AHRQ statistics indicate rates of obesity-related illnesses

Data from the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey for 2009 revealed that nearly 42% of obese adults older than 20 had a heart condition, 42% had high cholesterol levels and 15% reported having diabetes. The survey, carried out by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, also showed that 35.8% of adults 20 and older were overweight, 25.1% were obese and 4.5% were morbidly obese.
