Analysis: Quantum-dot displays may replace OLED TVs in 3-5 years

The industry delays in making and shipping organic light-emitting diode televisions could provide an entrée for a more advanced display technology -- quantum dots. Alex Wolfgram writes that according to some analysts, quantum dots are said to use less power and have enhanced color compared with conventional OLEDs. While OLED TVs are finally making it to store shelves this year, it may take another three to five years before quantum-dot displays show up in commercial products, Digitimes Research estimates.
