Budget cut could jeopardize poor's access to HIV/AIDS drugs

The House and the Senate so far have failed to earmark $35 million in funding for state AIDS Drug Assistance Programs, which endangers their capacity to provide access to treatments for almost 8,000 patients with HIV, advocates said. Some states, including Florida and Illinois, may have to stop giving drugs, AIDS Institute Deputy Executive Director Carl Schmid said.
