CDC data show low prediabetes awareness among Americans

A CDC report revealed only 11% of 79 million Americans with prediabetes were aware that they had the condition. "We need people to understand their risk and take action if they are at risk for diabetes. We know how to prevent type 2 diabetes, or at least delay it, so there are things people can do, but the first step is knowing what your risk is -- to know if you have prediabetes," report author Ann Albright said. The findings were published in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
