A bill authored by Sens. Mary Landrieu, D-La., and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, would allow coastal states to receive a part of federal energy revenues from energy made offshore. According to the bill, coastal states would get 27.5% of energy revenues, except Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, which would all get 37.5%. Coastal states investing in clean-energy projects would also get another 10% of offshore revenues.
