Dropbox's acquisition of Mailbox may have come just in time

The Mailbox application has hit the million-download milestone after putting potential customers into a "reservations" queue while it added additional resources, Josh Ong writes. Developers updated the app with bug fixes and new features such as a "shake to undo" method of erasing an action. Dropbox bought Mailbox last week, perhaps just in time, because the need to take reservations while it builds infrastructure demonstrates "the company is at risk of losing interested users who get tired of waiting and turn to other e-mail solutions that are also picking up steam," Ong writes.
