SUPERVALU closes $3.3B sale of chains to Cerberus

SUPERVALU has completed the sale of its Albertsons, Acme, Jewel-Osco and Shaw's/Star Market stores to an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management and other investors for $3.3 billion. The completion of the transaction allows SUPERVALU to "turn into a company much more reliant on wholesale business," Steve Alexander writes.
