Reading Recovery earns rare accolades

Despite federal reading officials seeking to keep states from using federal Reading First funds to pay for Reading Recovery, the first-grade tutoring program was recently given a positive rating from the U.S. Department of Education's What Works Clearinghouse. Some 7,500 schools use the intensive, one-to-one tutoring program targeting the lowest-achieving students.
