Teachers in France join strike

Nationwide strikes in France, including many of the country's teachers, occurred today in protest of President Nicolas Sarkozy's stance on working conditions and wages. The Education Ministry estimated the strike kept home 30% of primary-school teachers, 18% of junior-high-school teachers and 11% of high-school educators.
