High court: Sovereign immunity bars some suits by state workers

The Supreme Court has decided that state workers cannot sue for money damages for violations of a federal law that allows them to take unpaid time off to deal with medical issues. In a 5-4 decision, the court ruled that such lawsuits are not allowed because of the sovereign immunity that states have.
