Marcellus cracker could improve ethane supply chain

The oversupply and lack of mobility of Marcellus Shale ethane could be fixed with new pipelines and a cracker such as the one Shell Chemicals is studying for Pennsylvania, say industry observers. Easing that bottleneck, which forces producers to leave much of the ethane in methane gas, would allow them to get full value for the chemical feedstock.
