AAR: Rail carload, intermodal post gains in latest week

Carload volume of U.S. freight railroads rose 0.5% in the week ending March 16 year-on-year, while intermodal posted an increase of 0.7%, according to the Association of American Railroads. Half of the 10 shipment categories recorded gains, led by a 58.3% gain in carloads of petroleum products. North American chemical shipments also increased 3.3% in the latest week, AAR noted.
