Fla. city council finds manager among residents

The Satellite Beach, Fla., City Council has hired Courtney Barker as city manager. Barker, chosen from among 126 candidates, has served as director of planning and growth management in Titusville since 2007. She says her first priority will be the budget in Satellite Beach, which is her hometown. "Courtney has a deep knowledge of Satellite Beach, a clear understanding of the challenges we face," Councilwoman Lorraine Gott said. "And if you've ever taken the time to talk to her, you quickly realize she also has very creative solutions to every challenge she sees."
