The House on Thursday voted 318-109 in favor of a stop-gap funding bill that eliminated a possible shutdown of the government next week. Before the bill's approval, the House supported the budget plan proposed by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., which aims to eliminate deficits over 10 years, in part through big cuts to health care and other social safety-net programs.
