NIH cuts jeopardize U.S. research leadership, experts say

Budget sequestration cuts to the NIH total $1.6 billion, which may force labs to cut back on staff and jeopardize U.S. leadership in research, experts said. NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins said he worries the cuts will discourage young scientists from pursuing their careers or send them to other countries where research dollars are more plentiful.
