NTT taps Broadcom for second-generation DSP components

NTT Electronics has introduced a second-generation coherent DSP for 100Gbps interfaces that cuts power consumption by 50% thanks to the inclusion of converter technology from Broadcom. The partnership -- which observers say is likely to spark increased interest in DSPs from chip vendors -- was sparked by NEL's interest in another Broadcom product, the BCM84128 mux/demux chipset, according to Broadcom's Lorenzo Longo.
