Erica Varize is beating the odds as a black woman succeeding as an entrepreneur. The owner of a Berkeley, Calif., boutique credits organizations such as the Women's Initiative for giving her the tools and confidence to succeed. "Corporate America is sometimes not as inclusive to women, especially ethnic and racial minorities," said Barbara Mark, president of NAWBO's San Francisco Bay Area chapter.
