AT&T to fund telesurgery pilot at Texas hospital

AT&T has donated $1 million toward the advancement of so-called telesurgery technologies, which enable a physician performing surgery to receive support and coaching from more experienced surgeons via a remote link. The funding -- which is being delivered to the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center -- will be used starting this year to finance a five-year program to extend specialized surgical expertise to rural and underserved communities in Texas.
