Italy plans bailout of regions' medtech debt

Italy is considering an emergency payout to cover the ballooning debt of regional health care authorities to biomedical firms. The total is now estimated at $6.5 billion, with average payment times of nearly 300 days. The European Commission has endorsed a relaxation of Italy's Stability Pact to enable the clearing of public debt to private businesses.
