Stand-alone emergency departments a growing trend

Last October, there were more than $6 billion in medical facility renovation and construction projects in the works in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. A major player is Healthcare giant HCA, which has expansion projects "well in excess of $300 million" in the North Texas area, according to James Scoggin Jr., president of HCA’s North Texas Division. First Choice plans to add six to eight stand-alone emergency departments in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
