Florida NP urges support for prescribing authority

Nurse practitioners need to practice at the full scope of their education and training so they can provide primary care to many patients who otherwise would go without, NP Susan Lynch writes in an editorial in the Tallahassee Democrat. She says the Florida Medical Association's opposition to allowing NPs to prescribe controlled substances is in direct contrast to studies showing NPs are capably trained and no more likely to abuse the practice than other practitioners.
