FRA to install locomotive "simulator" to test safety

An advanced train simulator, designed to help federal safety officials simulate railroad conditions and scenarios, will be installed at the U.S. Department of Transportation's Volpe National Transportation Systems test site. The $1.6 million locomotive simulator will let the Federal Railroad Administration analyze human factors involved in freight and passenger train safety issues.
