CME plans to scale back grain-futures trading hours

CME Group says it will reduce grain-futures trading hours to 17.5 hours a day from the 21 hours the company expanded to in May. The hope is that the compression will better service clients who were driven away by the longer hours. "I had some longtime customers ... who really scaled their volumes back because you did not know if you were going to wake up in the middle of the night and see that beans were down 30 or 40 cents," said Jason Britt of Central States Commodities.
