HP, Oracle to face off again in court over Itanium dispute

Oracle's decision to discontinue software support for platforms based on Intel's Itanium microprocessors cost Hewlett-Packard billions of dollars and as much as a third of its quarterly sales, according to the company, which is suing the database giant for allegedly breaking its agreement with HP. In August, a judge ruled in favor of HP and ordered Oracle to resume Itanium support, but HP contends that by then, the damage to its Business Critical Systems unit was already done.
