Lawmakers pitch advisory panel to review FDA's performance

Reps. Joe Pitts, R-Pa., and Michael Burgess, R-Texas, vowed to take a closer look at FDA oversight, especially on how the agency deals with innovative products, biologics and drugs. To that end, the lawmakers are proposing the creation of an independent panel akin to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission to advise the FDA on how it might improve its performance.
