Rebel leader's resignation could affect Western backing

Syrian opposition leader Moaz Alkhatib resigned Sunday. He is considered a moderate and had offered Syrian President Bashar Assad a chance to leave office peacefully. Meanwhile, another rebel leaders was seriously injured in an assassination attempt, and reports of the death of Assad appeared unfounded.
