Researchers in Spain set sights on lab-grown heart

A team of scientists in Madrid is exploring methods of growing hearts in the laboratory, building on advances in the use of stem cells to develop simpler bioengineered organs such as windpipes and noses. A bioreactor that can keep blood flowing past developing heart cells is being prepared for lab studies expected to start next month.
