Study compares angiography, SPECT MPI for diagnosing CAD

A 320-detector-row coronary CT angiography procedure outperforms SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging in diagnosis of heart disease, but MPI helps prevent unneeded catheterization and revascularization, according to findings presented at a cardiology meeting. Researchers said CCTA's greater diagnostic capability may be linked to its higher sensitivity to coronary occlusions. The tests did not differ in terms of specificity.
