ViaSat said it reached 285,000 customers for its satellite-based broadband Internet Exede service in the U.S. in just over a year. In an interview, CEO Mark Dankberg said the company wants to increase its focus on customer service. "We're also going to try to figure out who are the good installers," he said. Dankberg pointed out that satellite broadband is more cost-effective than telecom-based services, and said 40% of Exede's subscribers have switched from terrestrial broadband.
