Goodmon: FCC has turned its back on broadcasting:

The FCC, in trying to take broadcast spectrum for broadband use, has turned its back on the potential of the DTV era and the entire concept of providing news and other programming for free to viewers, according to Jim Goodmon, president-CEO of Capitol Broadcasting. "I would say that the FCC -- the chairman [Julius Genachowski] and his advisers -- no longer support the idea of free over-the-air television," Goodmon said. "They can obviously expand broadband and take care of their whole broadband plan and never touch broadcast spectrum."
