RuralConnect touts first white-space broadband service

Broadband provider RuralConnect claims to be the first company to successfully offer high-speed Internet service to wireless Internet service providers using vacant UHF signals, known in the industry as white space. The company, which was formed through a partnership between Carlson and Neul, said its service can provide 16 megabits per second of bandwidth for each available vacant TV channel without requiring line-of-sight, with the potential to be scaled to access a total of 20 channels.
