EU crosses 70% glass recycling threshold

Glass recycling in the European Union has surpassed an average rate of 70% for the first time, according to the European Container Glass Federation. The agency said, however, that more of an effort must be made to bring that rate up to 100%. "Glass recycling is the key component of the circular economy -- because recycling closes the loop," FEVE president Stefan Jaenecke said. "Glass recycling saves raw materials and energy and reduces production costs."
