Fla. House to include 6% tuition increase in budget plan

Lawmakers in Florida's House of Representatives are planning to include a 6% boost in tuition at state colleges and universities in their upcoming budget proposal due for release this week. Gov. Rick Scott and Senate lawmakers oppose the move, likening it to a tax increase. "I want to make sure we continue to have a state where we have lower taxes and a lower cost of living," Scott told the state's higher-education board.
