Oracle to acquire Tekelec to push deeper into telecom sector

Oracle says it has a deal to acquire Tekelec, which makes components that help manage the delivery of mobile data to smartphones and tablets. The deal reinforces Oracle's goal to become an important provider to the telecom industry, Chris Kanaracus writes. "What we'd like to become is one of the most strategic suppliers to telcos overall, which involves broadening our footprint of what we supply them," CEO Larry Ellison said last week.
