Oracle acquires Tekelec to push deeper into telecom sector

Oracle is continuing its buying streak with the announcement that it is acquiring North Carolina-based Tekelec, a manufacturer of components that help manage the delivery of mobile data to smartphones and tablets. The deal follows Oracle's July acquisition of Xsigo Systems and its recent $1.7 billion bid for telecom component maker Acme Packet.
