Report: Uncertain policies are a concern for renewables investors

China and the U.S. remained first and third, respectively, in Ernst & Young's All-Renewables Index for the first quarter of 2013. Policy uncertainty and the impact of the global economic downturn remain big concerns for investors in the top 10 nations in the index, Ernst & Young said. In the U.S., the extension of the wind-energy Production Tax Credit and offshore wind progress gave the industry a boost, but may not fully offset the challenges represented by cheap natural gas and uncertainty over long-term energy policy, Ernst & Young added.
