Showtime looks to vie with HBO for pay-TV boxing title

Showtime wants to step into the professional boxing ring with promoter Golden Boy Productions, which last week ended its long-term deal with HBO. The potential partnership would only add to Showtime's boxing mojo: The network also has lined up a six-fight pay-per-view arrangement with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and has scheduled airings of bouts with junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia.
