A Groupon offer for a half-price Starbucks deal prompted enough demand to crash the system. More than 100,000 people bought the offer to apply a $10 deal online, through the coffeemaker's mobile applications or with an existing Starbucks card, Chantal Tode writes. "While the daily deals provider has been struggling for a while, offers such as this show the power of the right deal coupled with easy mobile purchase and redemption to drive results," Tode writes.
