Systemic change is key to ACO success, exec says

Accountable care organizations need to adopt systemic change to achieve the goals of better care quality at reduced costs, said Jim Hansen, vice president of Lumeris' Accountable Delivery System Institute. Hansen coined the term ACO 2.0 to refer to groups that can embrace systemic change, which he said involves doctor buy-in and greater patient involvement as well as health IT adoption.
