Transocean exec defends maintenance of Gulf rig

Transocean's Deepwater Horizon rig received proper maintenance prior to the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill, said William Ambrose, a company executive who headed an internal probe of the incident. Ambrose disputed claims by marine engineering expert Edward Webster, who said a review of documents from the company's computerized maintenance system showed 222 maintenance tasks were overdue on the day before the spill. "Nothing on that list would say 'Stop this rig,'" Ambrose said during a civil trial over the incident.
