The trouble with patchwork jobs

Unable to find full-time jobs, many workers are taking on multiple part-time gigs to pay the bills. Even if they can make sufficient income, all that juggling comes at a cost. "There is a clear correlation between economic distress and social distress," says Paul Osterman, professor of human resources and management at MIT's Sloan School of Management. "Underemployment is not good news for families."
