Study: Vestas remained the world's top wind turbine maker last year

Vestas Wind Systems continued to be the biggest wind turbine maker in the world in 2011, followed by Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology and General Electric, according to a study by Navigant Consulting's BTM Consult unit. Vestas captured 12.9% of the global market, while Xinjiang Goldwind and GE got 9.4% and 8.8%, respectively, the report showed. China was the biggest wind power market last year, accounting for 17.6 gigawatts of new capacity, while the U.S. was second with 6.8 GW, BTM said.
