Retail competition in Canada has been heating up, most recently with the arrival of Target and the coming of Nordstrom, driving change for retailers accustomed to competing largely on price with a few rivals. “The entrance of new players to the retail market in Canada is forcing retailers to have greater focus on product and assortment differentiation," said analyst David Hartley.
