Official discusses refining government's procurement process

A large percentage of the federal government's contracting officers could soon retire, according to Joe Jordan, the top federal procurement officer. To counteract this problem, his office intends to advocate for agencies to "widen the aperture of who they recruit," he said. Jordan also emphasized the value of analytics in purchasing decisions and the need for agencies to talk to industry sources to find ways to enhance the procurement process.
