Retailers thrive while paying good wages

Retailers such as QuikTrip, Trader Joe's and Costco Wholesale are proving companies can succeed while paying cashiers and other low-level employees as much as double what they would earn in a similar position elsewhere. The trade-off has helped such companies see better customer service and increased sales, Sophie Quinton writes.
