School experts to lead common core training under ASCD model

Pinellas County Schools in Largo, Fla., has partnered with ASCD on a professional-development model designed to create a team of experts within the district to lead research-based professional learning. The program, which includes establishing "Leading the Learning" teams at each school, will be preparing educators for the Common Core State Standards. "It is essential that district and school leaders have the opportunity to learn about the standards and raise questions that will help guide their transition, implementation, and communication strategies," said ASCD Executive Director Gene R. Carter.
