Google embraces a nonaggression stance on patents

Google has declared it won't sue over open-source patent issues unless it's taken to court first, and say it hopes that its "Open Patent Non-Assertion" philosophy will catch on with other companies. But that may not happen quickly, industry watchers say, because some vendors need to make money from patent investments.
