Freight railroads are experiencing a resurgence due to several factors that make them a sought-after mode of transportation, according to this audio. Among the reasons for this are the energy-efficiency of rail as fuel costs become an issue with shipping companies. "A train can move one ton 500 miles on one gallon of fuel, which makes it three to four times more fuel-efficient than trucks," said Betsy Morris, Wall Street Journal reporter.
