Pedal power meets internal combustion in Indonesia

Small motorcycle engines attached to Indonesian trishaws -- rickshaws with a third wheel -- are boosting the earning power of their owners as they dispense with the onerous task of pedaling. Faster, easier trips mean more paying customers. The increase in earnings more than makes up for the cost of gasoline and the expense of fines for violating local regulations regarding powered vehicles.
