S.C. lawmaker opposes SRS used-fuel storage site proposals

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., is opposing proposals to store used nuclear fuel at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina. "We are a treatment facility. We can reprocess, we can do the [mixed-oxide fuel] program where we create commercial-grade fuel to ship out to be used in reactors. We are cleaning up the tanks ... but we are not a place to store nuclear materials," Graham said.
